I had the pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental hotel in Buckhead—a trendy and commercial district of Atlanta, Georgia when I visited the city a few weeks ago. It was my first time staying at an Intercontinental property so I was curious as to the level of service I would receive. One of the important aspects to selecting a hotel next to cleanliness and quality of service are the amenities. As a full service luxury hotel, I expected the hotel to have a good restaurant on the premises and boy was I in for a surprise. Southern Art, the hotel’s onsite restaurant offers southern cuisine with a farm-to-table modern touch. Spearheaded by highly acclaimed chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Art Smith. Smith will conjure up house favorites like Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Oyster Deviled Eggs, Shrimp and Grits, Seared Scallop Saint James and Buttermilk Fried Chicken to name a few. One thing is for sure, I ate pretty damn good during my stay. If you are ever in the area, I recommend Southern Art for a fantastic dining experience. If Atlanta is in your travel plans, do consider staying at the Intercontinental Buckhead, it is an exceptional hotel experience.
