I know…the old saying—reading is fundamental is so cliché right? But it’s true. With the recent popularization of eReaders, one has to wonder who the heck is still holding on to traditional hard copies. Well the fact is, eReaders will never completely replace traditional publications. Nope. Never. There is nothing like seeing a bookshelf filled with books. Or that coffee table filled with attention grabbers. Today I’ve outlined ten of my favorite coffee table reads that I consider classics. What are some of your favorites?

Tom Ford: “This book is a complete catalog of Ford’s design work for both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent from 1994 to 2004. It chronicles not only Ford’s clothing and accessories designs for both houses, but also explores Ford’s grand vision for the complete design of a brand, including architecture, store design, and advertising.”
Chanel: “Through these dazzling photographs, Chanel: The Vocabulary of Style identifies key elements that have defined Chanel’s style for generations, such as jersey and tweed, formerly considered menswear fabrics, and the little black dress, which transformed a hue previously reserved for mourning into a statement of elegance.”
Posing Beauty: Deborah Willis’ perspective on African American beauty was dead one when the Author became determined to fill a void. A void where images of black beauty simply did not exist to the larger American populace. I’m a huge fan of her work.
Reflections in Black: …..”the first comprehensive history of black photographers, is a groundbreaking pictorial collection of African American life.” Deborah Willis refutes the stereotypical imagery of black life which oftentimes only leaves us with a grim perspective of despondency and abjection. This is surely a must have for your library.
New York Interiors: Interior design and architecture from a New York state of mind.
