The 6’3” British-born heartthrob has had much stateside success as an actor who has graced our movie screens in movies such as Nelson Mandela, Takers, Thor and of course who could forget his role as the drug kingpin—Stringer Bell in the HBO series, The Wire. But movies aside, Idris Elba in my eyes has established himself as an iconic figure in the world of men’s fashion and Maxim Magazine has him gracing their September 2015 issue as the first ever solo male figure to ever grace their cover. Style icon? Absolutely—-here’s why.
| The Fit. He knows what fits him well and due to his unique 6’3” stature knows the value in customizing his wardrobe. I’ve always said that the key to looking well put together lies well within the fit of your clothes. Great tailoring is key and he has certainly mastered that.
| The Color Choices. He knows what colors work well against his rich complexion. Color matching is a critical component to dressing well. Knowing what colors are complimentary to your skin tone is another key component to possessing great style.
| The Swag: There isn’t much to say about the level of swag that be brings. He’s got a mean walk and that alone holds heavy weight in the swagger department. He’s simply too cool and too hot (lawd!) all at the same time.
| The Versatility: He has the ability to transition well from casual to formal attire and does it quite seamlessly. I mean the man can practically wear what ever the hell he wants and serve.
| The Individuality: He has his own sense of style and certainly can carry each and every one of his looks with maximum confidence. I mean who else can pull of classic tailored pieces like a dress shirt, vest, tie and jacket—styled with a pair of boot-cut relaxed-fit jeans?
