Purple Haze

Hey beauties! I'm back and rejuvenated from a much needed family vacation. There's nothing like a good ole getaway that allows you to release, relax and reflect. And boy did I do some reflecting. And some perfecting. My tan that is. Can we say, melanin poppin'!. LOL. I will never underestimate the power of travel. It allows us to appreciate the here and now, tap into a clearer vision for the future and reflect on the many lessons of the past. And no, international travel isn't needed. Fab Eats: Jax Fish House Kansas City

I had the opportunity to stop in at one of Kansas City's hot spots: Jax Fish House Kansas City---a local favorite. What initially drew me to the establishment? Oysters. But when I discovered Ronald van der Kemp, the Dutch designer whose effortless ability to fuse modern vintage perfectly from a demi-couture and ready-to-wear perspective---I became an instant fan. From the peplums, ruffles and defined waistlines: van der Kemp seemingly loves what he does and it shows. Asked to describe his style is three words, he said---"free-spirited, sentimental and quirky." Rightfully so. I'm so here for the clean lines, the Japanese origami flair and his masterful construction. Who is the van der Kemp woman? He says, "I am trying to reach the customer that desires a more personal, discrete and...

5 Reasons I Started Juicing

I've had my share of heath issues---but within recent years, I've been battling weight gain and sporadic digestive issues in particular. As for my weight gain, it's stress related. And nothing soothes my soul when I'm stressed like a good ole meal, Netflix and my sofa. But let me tell it, I had things under control and before I knew it---ten lbs has crept on. Then came the stomach/digestive flare ups. More than likely caused by my diet. So I had to make a change and I started (organic cold pressed) juicing. But here are all the reasons why.  1. My BFF introduced me to it. So shout out to my BFF TB who like myself had her share of...
