Fab Eats: Jax Fish House Kansas City

I had the opportunity to stop in at one of Kansas City's hot spots: Jax Fish House Kansas City---a local favorite. What initially drew me to the establishment? Oysters. Albeit----Kansas City isn't the first place that comes to mind when I think of fresh seafood. But I went for it. Because that's what true foodies do, right? Located in the Country Club Plaza neighborhood--- with limited street parking, parking in the adjacent parking garage will be your best bet. The chic and stylish interior coupled with the sophisticated cocktail selection makes this spot a popular destination for the young, chic and professional. I visited during happy hour and tried a couple of their appetizers---which were good. The cocktails were great!...

5 Reasons I Started Juicing

I've had my share of heath issues---but within recent years, I've been battling weight gain and sporadic digestive issues in particular. As for my weight gain, it's stress related. And nothing soothes my soul when I'm stressed like a good ole meal, Netflix and my sofa. But let me tell it, I had things under control and before I knew it---ten lbs has crept on. Then came the stomach/digestive flare ups. More than likely caused by my diet. So I had to make a change and I started (organic cold pressed) juicing. But here are all the reasons why.  1. My BFF introduced me to it. So shout out to my BFF TB who like myself had her share of...

Fab Eats: Char Bar . Kansas City

Hey Beauties, I hope all is well. I've been a traveling road warrior lately. I had the opportunity to make a stop through Kansas City and decided to try a little KC Bar-B-Que. I'm funny about my Bar-B-Que so I initially went into the experience with some bias. LOL. Needless to say----I loved this spot so much, I visited twice during my trip. Okay----so where do I begin? Let's start with the rosemary-infused lemonade. Again----I was a little suspect. But to my surprise this unique and refreshing beverage was pretty good. If you're not the carbonated drink kinda person then this may not be your cup of lemonade. So let's move on to the food. OMG---the chicken wings. The damn wings....

5 Must Have Spices for Your Kitchen

One of the aspects to producing tasteful and unique dishes lies within the herbs and spices that are often utilized during the cooking process. But many of these same herbs and spices provide additional health benefits that extends far beyond pleasing the oral palettes. I've outlined 5 beneficial herbs and spices below that have significant health impact.  1. Turmeric - Known to put the yellow color in curry. Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant known to slow the aging process and prevent ailment and diseases. It's also an anti-inflammatory. Lowering blood pressure and killing fungus are also health benefits amongst others. 2. Basil - Thai food is one of my absolute favorite cuisines. And anything basil or ginger is a must....

Chef Table Experience

Hey lovies. I stepped out recently to experience an intimate dining experience with a few strangers. Yep. Strangers. How's that for the quintessential risk taker? Adventurous I am. The chef table---a concept called for bringing together a few local folks all for the love of food. When my blogger babe Jenn of This Jenn Girl introduced me to the experience-- I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The October experience was a first for me and many of the other foodies in the group. The Chef---Chef Chanse, a marketing exec by day and self-taught culinary master by night; pushes his creative brilliance monthly dishing out a variety of farm fresh ingredients in the form of new and unique creations to a...
